Owning a recreational vehicle (RV) can be a great experience. Whether you are living full time in your RV or using it as a vacation home-away-from-home, an RV is fun and gives you lots of freedom.
RVs need insurance, just like any vehicle. The right policy will give you peace of mind when vacationing and worry-free travel while on the road. The type of coverage will depend upon the type and class of the RV, where you’ll be using it, and whether or not it’s financed.
Your agent can help you understand which RV insurance programs match your needs.

Where and how will you be using your RV?
Motorhomes can be seen up and down the highways, especially in late spring and late fall when folks travel to and from warmer climates. Motorhomes need coverage just like a car, truck or any other vehicle that travels on the road.
Towables are non-motorized and are insured a little differently than the tow vehicle itself. Insurance programs are available to cover both the tow vehicle and the trailer or just the trailer, whether it’s on or off the road.
RVs parked in a seasonal campground require something a little different. Check with your agent for the best plan to cover an RV that’s parked full time in a seasonal campground or elsewhere.
Do I need insurance if my RV isn’t financed?
An RV that's paid for in full may or may not require insurance coverage depending upon state law or campground rules. You may want to consider liability protection and if your RV is fairly new, full replacement coverage might be advisable.
Do I need coverage if I’m renting an RV for the weekend?
When renting an RV, coverage is required and is sometimes provided by or purchased from the rental agent. In some cases, you may be covered as part of your personal vehicle policy. The rental agent will explain their requirements.
Talk to your agent to determine which type of RV insurance programs are right for you.
